A single thought sends an electrical impulse down a nerve via neurotransmitters to the next nerve. Each nerve has about 15,000 connections to other nerves each having thousands of neurotransmitters
We have 60,000 to 90,000 thoughts a day firing off all these neurotransmitters which mix into our physiology creating an emotional state that drives our behaviour. An internal chatter going off at a million miles an hour in your mind, which you CAN change from angry to, happy!
In 1991, Mauricio Estrella arrived at work late & stressed only to be greeted by the "change your Microsoft exchange password" message. His initial reaction was frustration and anger at that stupid useless waste of time! But then Mauricio decided to seize this opportunity to change his internal chatter. Every month, he would choose a meaningful mantra as his password such as forgive@h3r or Quit@smoking4ever
He would have to type these passwords several times a day and each time he did he reinforced the thought process of actualizing them. And YES.....he did actualize everything he used as a password
On August 1st, 2014, team FitU decided to participate in the 100happydays challenge. We were worried at first that we would not be able to actually post a happy picture every day for 100 days! However, as the days went by, we came to realize how small daily events, some even routine made our happy. We woke up every morning focused and ready to receive joy. And that’s exactly what we received in more ways that we could have ever imagined when we first embarked on this challenge
We even struggled most days in order to choose which of the many happy we would post. Day #100 was on Saturday November 8th and so we no longer have to post a daily happy. However, we have chosen to remain in joy and appreciate every precious moment.
Evelyn summarised our experience best in her 100th post:
Day 100: Wow! I have found at least one happy moment daily for 100 days! At first I thought it would be a bit of a challenge and thought it would be sad if I became part of the 71% who fail at the #100happydays, now I don't even get why I even thought it could be hard. Be thankful for everything you get/have daily! Sure there's the big important stuff like family, friends, health, etc but also think of the small things everyday, the sun shining, birds chirping, a hot cup of coffee in your favorite mug, hitting all the green lights, feeling sore after a great workout, getting the perfect parking spot, a smile from a stranger, someone holding the door open for you, etc... make happiness and joy a priority in your life and you will see how much brighter the world can be! Thank you to fellow #100happydays participant Julie Marineau for this fitting quote. #iamfituhappy #100happydays
So when will NOW be the time to create your happiness!
